Deputy General Secretary (Member Services) at Queensland Teachers' Union. A former French language teacher in state primary and secondary schools, Leah's QTU career began in 1994 with her appointment as Women's Coordinator. In 2011, she took up the role of Strategy and Policy Officer at the Queensland Council of Unions, before returning to the QTU in 2012 as Research Officer – Professional Issues, serving in that position until she was elected to her current role in March 2021. After 30 years of working for the union movement, Leah has extensive experience of providing advice to, and advocacy for, QTU members. She is also experienced in corporate governance and strategic planning, serving as the Australian Education Union's corporate director on the board of the Australian Council on Children and the Media (ACCM), Chair of the Queensland Working Women's Service (QWWS), and Vice-President of the management committee of Basic Rights Queensland (BRQ). In March 2019, Leah was elected to the board of Teachers' Union Health (TUH).
